HIGHEST PUB ON THE YORKSHIRE WOLDS

WOLDS INN HUGGATE

The Wolds Inn was built in 1592 and sits in the village of Huggate. Offering locally sourced home cooked pub classics, local beers, a sizeable car park, large beer garden to the rear and benches to the front of the pub.

Famous for being the first pub David Hockney ever got drunk in. When he was a youngster he used to work summers stooking corn in the fields around Huggate and one day after work he was taken to the pub and over-imbibed for the very first time!

Huggate remains the highest village on the Yorkshire Wolds at around 558 feet (170 metres) above sea level.
The high points around the village give fabulous views across the Yorkshire Wolds for all visitors.

The village contains many features some of which include the beautiful parish church of St Mary, a grade 1 listed building and on the village green there is one of the deepest wells in England at 116 yards deep, which previously supplied the inhabitants of this village with water!
